leaving for Trip next week
« on: May 12, 2019, 05:38:44 PM »
Next week will leave on 7-14 day trip from Chattanooga....end goal CA/WA---scooter in good shape, think I have made right helmet/boot choice----Temps still moderate will use Aerostich Darien jacket, Joe Rocket rain pants in case of rain/cold, of course carry rubber boots, lots of foam ear plugs, rain mitts

Will take my lite camping stuff as I am getting really tired of India run motels and their poor service/upkeep.  But sometimes camping ain't cheap either.

Dog goes in top box, if camping I do not cook----farther north you go food is better/bathrooms clean.

Good for you, John! Godspeed and watch out for old guys in Buicks! Keep us advised in case we have to chase down your trail to rescue! Not worried since this certainly not your first rodeo plus you seem to really prepare. Pictures or it dint happen!

Buicks are no longer problem but idiots in pick ups are.

I won't watch ANY helmet video with audio for more than 30 seconds unless I know he's going over a cliff.....but photos demand very little from the audience. (Well, there was one instructive video of a black LIKE200i getting pranged....)
Could we get a photo of the pooch on/in your scooter?!

I don't do photos or take pictures or would even know how to post one---but lots of people on the highway see Moose with his head sticking out of box, take his picture as they pass by.

Yeah, dogs can be real show-offs on two wheels.

This trip ended in 2 days----first I thought about where I was going/riding....been there before.....so why?, weather had tuned cool then KFC and McDonalds pan cakes----stomach sick, big time, After  a nite in crappy INDIA run Motel 6, decided to go home and save my money....then about 20 miles from home, instrument failure....first temp gauge, then tach, then odometer-----will check fuses in AM....no luck take it to my dealer, leave it and let them figure it out.....warranty.   Glad I had decided to go home, rather than continue west.

This trip, wore the wrong jacket.....my second Aerotich Darien, just no longer comfortable on scooter, this yellow one has well over 100,000 miles.

New Michelin City Grip rear tire working fine.   OEM front showing signs of wear/use at 4,500 miles.

Mid course correction. Good pilot decision: RTB.

Fixed tach/temp gauge/odometer non working-----fuse had worked loose----required battery removal, fuse cover removal, then cover dropped so storage box had to come out to reach it.

I kinda re-routed battery neg cable, added small piece of foam to pad fuse box cover.  Everything works.

Note:  I view this trouble as just  accident.   Kymco is much more straight forward to work on, get box out, remove seat than previous Hondas/Suzuki's I have owned.

Hope the fix lasts.
