As I go thru lots of scooter tires----over 400,000 miles with maxi scooter since 1990---before that maybe 100,000 with 4 Vespa 2 strokes, plus a whole bunch of motorcycle tires, too.
I find/found it also seems to be batch that your tire comes from----same tire, different batch, different tread life and maybe different performance. I tend to buy my tires from Dennis Kirk---tires are fresh, quickly shipped.
Never had tire problems---2 stroke Vespas---Pirelli @ about $10---bikes had spare tire and wheel too and rear wheel came off easy!!
Maxi scooters=4 rear tire failures with Bridestone, 1 with Helix, 3 with Reflex---with Reflex tires started coming apart and I caught it-----Helix, Japan, after long hard/hot Freeway run, on exit tire flew apart but retained air...near home limped home---Helix had rear problem, 68mph rated rear on bike that would go much faster than that downhill/tailwind.
My current XTown 300i has Michelin City Grip rear, replacing OEM Kenda, front is still OEM Kenda----when they are gone will replace with matched set of Michelin Power Pure SC---I have had good luck with them on Burgman 400 and Silverwing---great feature is they wear round!
I do own tire work (sucks) and use "Ride On" as balance medium---works great for me. My scooters sleep inside.
