Training wheels

Some time way back, my dear wife wanted the three wheel/outrigger wheel arrangement after she low speed high sided pulling into the gas station. So I put a Tow-Pac outrigger (training) wheel setup on her scoot.The People GTi300 has been idle for months while her shoulder healed from rotator cuff surgery. So I chared the battery and took it for a decent ride yesterday, the first REAL ride I ever took on that thing. All I can say is she is a better man than me because steering that thing is HARD WORK! It is evil and clumsy. The road feedback is strong and heavy, following camber with vengence. I absolutely hate what it has done to a delightful handling machine. But, hey! She loves it! Whe she's happy, well, you know! I will INVENT something if I face needing something to keep me upright at slow or no speed.

As there are no real safety standards for registration in US....trike conversions/training wheels can be handful.  Based on over 40 years sidecar experience---they need adjustable trail forks/steering damper and probably reduced gearing......and then carefully ridden.   Remember how your trike tipped over as a kid?

Pusher type 3 wheelers--Can AM and Messerschmitt KR200's better.   I had 2 Messerschmitts, one new one used....much better than motorcycle or sidecar outfit as they had heater in winter.

Amen to that - those things are wicked unstable!  CanAm is more stable, but much too powerful for the average 90-yr old rider!.

I would not walk across the street for another Tow-Pac kit. But SHE loves it! That is the deal right there.
