In the DT300i you can simply reach behind the headlight assembly and pop off the round rubber cover. The bulb can then be taken out by twisting it anticlockwise.

I hope they're close, as this will be most excellent!

I'm going to have to get up off of old rusty and go outside to look now.

Mouse,

One more question...... Where is the top up inlet for coolant?


Here is a photo of the coolant pump. Notice the 3 outer bolts holding the pump to the engine block. The centre bolt (silver) is the coolant drain bolt. Simply remove this bolt to drain all the coolant (except the reservoir).

The radiator/coolant fill cap is located behind the windshield. You can remove the windshield and the front access panel to get to the cap.

I'm going to attempt a flush.

If it's simply coolant top-up you're after, then the coolant recovery bottle should be under a plastic panel with a Phillips screw under the rubber flap by the left footrest.

4) Put everything back and fill with deionized water
5) Run for a few minutes and cool down
6) Empty again and fill with 50% coolant
7) Run the engine with the radiator cap off and sqeeze the hoses to burp trapped air
8) Done

Thanks Mouse, can you remember how many liters of water I will need?  I will have to get to the shop to buy some distilled water.

The total coolant capacity is 1.7 litres.

    Radiator: 766 cc
    Hose: 169 cc
    Reserve Tank: 590 cc
    Total capacity: 1719 cc

I don't understand dealers and mechanics that don't get me what I paid for in the line-item mandatory pre-purchase inspection. It's usually some non-trivial amount of money too.

$400+ for "dealer Prep"....

If you leave the side stand down and are able to start the engine then you can do some serious damage to yourself by taking off, then turning left: you will be pole vaulted by the side stand, possibly off the bike. I had an early Gold Wing that caused me to change my undies after that happened to me due to forgetting to put the side stand up.

Fun-ones are the owner's manuals that state that you have a side-stand lock out....when you actually do not!
