I am not doing enough of it right now except for daily errands-----but have found German Bake Shop in Helen GA----plan to ride there next week to see if they have some decent bread----the white mush available in stores here is really crappy.     Other than that I have no rides coming until spring and then try more camping as I am tired of India run motels.

I find once you have ridden certain roads in the south(have ridden entire Natchez Trace PKY and Blue Ridge PWY end to end but they are really not interesting enough to do again.)  I have visited Barber Museum and Lane Small car Museum, but once is enough.  Might try Memphis as I heard there is place with deep fried hamburgers---like, I hope as I ate at Fox Hamburgers in Eau Claire WI as child.

Hey, John! 79 here working on 80. You come to Memphis, come armed! Kid you not, freeway overpasses now lurked by armed thugs where they used to throw rocks now shoot! Car to car combat is now with bullets! You come this way, let us rendezvous and I will show you  Gus's fried chicken, BOBO's BBQ in Mason, Gus's on the eastern edge of Memphis or a couple of other safer places than in Memphis. Or just meet up for coffee before you go into Memphis or after if you survive! Har, har!

Keep up the good work de dee. My daughter in law in Iowa is a nurse and to my understanding the road in front of their house get cleared with a snow blower truck during snow storms, just to make sure she will be able go to work. I guess this is common practice to keep emergency services going in the US, and I am highly impressed. In our country things are very different !

My daughter in law in Iowa is a nurse and to my understanding the road in front of their house get cleared with a snow blower truck during snow storms, just to make sure she will be able go to work. I guess this is common practice to keep emergency services going in the US, and I am highly impressed. In our country things are very different !

In the blizzard of 1978 in Massachusetts, I used my new VW Rabbit to fetch nurses and food for the kitchen at Dartmouth Behavioral Sciences Center (private psych hosp.). The National Guard brought the head cook, but not until 2 nurses and I prepared meals for a day and a half.
I bought the base model Rabbit,  but rather than looking for lower $, I negotiated for a set of Michelins....as the base model came with bias ply tires. The Michelins were great in the snow.
Some staff slept at the hosp, but I went home every night. Totally sold on Bosch fuel injection after that car!
Heck of a storm - huge drifts were the problem.

Good work ! At our side of the pond civilians also get involved by times, but for a very different reason. Since our new democracy our country started falling apart and staff members often don’t care a damn about patients in hospitals !

I remember blizzard of '78, it was 3rd storm over 2ft in as many weeks, snow depth was level with the balcony on my 2nd floor apt.

we got more snow in blizzard of '93, but late season it only lasted a few weeks

the first blizzard I rode in was blizzard of '11, an awakening that I could get around very well on my V-strom

Yesterday/Wed/Dec 4-----wanted to go to Helen GA----25 degrees F/ ended up taking car that I have driven less than 1000 miles since Feb 2019----liked heater/50.3 MPG, but no fun like bike/scooter.  Car 2018 Mitsuibishi Mirage.

Scooter would have been more fun for sure---lots of back roads/curves/even speed traps.
