My 2019 XTown 300i ABS at about 9,000 miles
« on: October 09, 2019, 10:24:03 PM »
Not riding this year as much as I usually do----but my spring purchase of 2019 XTown now has about 9,000 miles,  Some random comments follow:

Heavy
275 cc, so it is really a slightly stretched 250
Performance fine---about same as Honda Reflex, 65-70mpg, plenty of range on 3.3 US gallon tank
Tire sensitive----does not like square wearing tires on some surfaces---right now Michelin City Grip on rear, still ok wear pattern, life should be well over 10,000 miles (present 6,000 miles on it)----front still OEM, should last about 15,000 miles----with front and rear gone about the same time, probably replace with Michelin Power Pure SC matched pair....based on good performance with both Burgman 400 and Honda SilverWing 600's, they provided high mileage and wore round.

As OEM windshield is fairly crappy, I replaced with Puig Touring, cut 4 inches, Laminar Lip added (bolted on).  Right now air/wind management is about as good as it is going to get on Maxi scooter.(the XTown is my 11th since 1990)  This same windshield is offered by Kymco in their accessory offering.

Center and sidestands are fine.  Seat ok.

Right now Givi E-46 box bolted direct to rear wing.

Lights fine.   I have installed big O-ring left over from Kawasaki Concours as throttle stop, but haven't needed to use it yet.

Price was right.  Rides ok, but you have to remember you are riding scooter----I find 60mph good cruising speed, although 70 or 80 mph is available when needed or wanted.

Kymco seems to be fine quality....nothing has fallen off, I plan to look at valves/air cleaner/change rear end oil at 10,000 miles as well as change drive belt with OEM belt at same time.

So I am happy with bike as it works fine---because of unfiltered oil I try to change every 1,000 miles, will look at screen at 10,000 miles---oil WalMart 10-40.

Eat more broccoli.... :)

Bands work great for parking brake.
I keep a couple on the R turn pod.

Disappointing to hear 65-70 mpg on a smaller engine where the DT300i gets 75 mpg broken in on summer gas. Must be the 4 valve head.

Thanks for sharing.
But takes two hands? Carry it where?
I hold my bike in place with L hand brake lever, reach R hand down and slip band off of light pod - put it on front brake lever... get off & take pix!

Tried and true for 7 years of parking and pic taking.

I use a velcro cable tie for park brake. It stays on the grip 'til I need it. One hand operation.

65-70 mpg----depends on throttle hand-----70 plus is there by slowing down----gas is the least expensive thing about owning scooter/bike.

I consider the parking brake as one of those things I didn’t realize I needed until I got one, then didn’t realize how I got along without one.
