People 300 key blank
« on: August 20, 2019, 08:00:38 PM »
I just bought a used People 300 and it came with only 1 key and no code... I live in Eastern Europe and I have been to 10+ locksmiths and also the Kymco dealer - nobody can make a copy for me... I have started to look online and am having problems determining which key blank to order.... ideally I would prefer one with the magnet thing to be able to open the ignition cover but at this point - I will take any suitable key blank.
Also - is there a way to get the key code?? from the VIN or engine serial number or something??

I have found key blanks for scooters on alibaba and ebay. Blanks come from China, local locksmith cuts them. They work fine.
Look at your key and compare to seller's photo. Not expensive.
Also, found magnetic keys this way, ebay. Cheap, work fine on my Burgman 400.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

That "thing" on the side of the black key top is not magnetic. It is a "key" in itself to open the shutter on key slot. Do like Stig said for the blank.

Despite what your dealer has told you, Key blanks are available. If your bike is a People GT300i, the PN's are:
35111-LDC1-305-M1 (Right Hand Blank)
35111-LDC1-305-M1 (Left Hand Blank)
35111-LDC1-307-M1 (Shutter Key Fob)
You will need the know what bank you need, Right or Left side cut. Look at your old one, dealer should be able to identify.

Might be hang up on European model----many vehicles in Europe come with anti theft chip---Kymco dealer or distributor should be best bet.---you can get key---but vehicle won't go down road----I had problem with Polish built Fiat 1100.

I'm having the same problem. As you've noted, most Kymco dealers are quite clueless about these things.  If you have a source that works, can you provide a link or some kind of clue.  Thanks!

Any Kymco dealer can look up the key blanks. They are in the Kymco Micro Fiche which the dealer has to order parts.

What about the little plastic part with which you unlock the switch?
