18 degrees F in Chattanooga
« on: November 13, 2019, 11:04:17 AM »
18 degrees F in Chattanooga this AM....and they panic----schools closed/delays----one problem for two wheelers, these idiots spray "brine" on some roadways----slippery as greased owl poop for bikes, my opinion creates more of a problem than ice/snow.-----My scooter can rest today....as there is no place to go or I want to go.

6°F here in Ohio.
A couple years ago I commuted to work on my LIKE200iLX at 3°F *.
Was a little worried about facial frostbite, since I had to keep the visor open a little to prevent fogging.....and was concerned about the plastics (front fender, etc.). But goofy thing started right up, and panels were no worry. At work I dismounted, turned around and took a snap with cell phone to commemorate the goofy experience.
LIKE200i owners are familiar with this scoots instant starts in all temps. (son's Honda CB500X starts the same way. EFI is amazing stuff )

It was around 20 this morning in Huntsville.  I haven't heard of and delays or cancelations.  It should be back in the mid 50s by this weekend.  Mid 40s later today so I'll be out on the scooter even if it's just a run to Wally World for groceries.  I expect to do a longer ride, maybe 150 miles on Saturday.

I know that batteries can last a good long time - but I worry that I'll be miles from home on the cold day it decides to become a canoe anchor. So, I err on the side of caution.
It's too cold to even fiddle with the scoots - so I'm looking at pix from warmer days.

Aaaa-HAH! You wimped out! "Oooohh! It's tooo cold, Mr. Two Degrees riding to work!" Oh, where have our fearless leaders gone? Oh, the humanity! Well, pilgrim, they got older and wised up! Do not have to sprint from the ready shack and jump into the freshly started Spitfire anymore. Your participation in the battle is no longer necessary since the battle is won! You fought well and now is time you rested. Be selective. You earned it!

That, and they salted the beejeepers out of the streets. I'll need a rain before riding the Liberty, while an after-ride rinse will work for the Kymco if roads are completely free of salt dust..
