Recommended Hi-Viz rain wear
« on: February 04, 2020, 10:37:54 PM »
Really like this Oxford 'RainSeal' over-jacket.
It waterproofed me all morning in some pretty good downpours. It is a very high visibility color (with reflective bands for night riding) and it is sized to be worn over your armored jacket. I wear it over an armored leather Icon jacket.
I really like the wide, high and padded collar to seal out the cold as well as the water!

Today was a really wet pre-dawn ride!

A good price in addition, for something which does the job so well.

This rainproof over-jacket works as well as the top layer on cold rides. I will use it down to @33°F....before going to an insulated jacket, with additional under layers.
Love the bright color.
I never ride without some form of hi viz on my torso. Jacket - or that goofy "POLITE NOTICE" hi viz vest from the U.K.

You'll be aware that type of vest gets very mixed reviews over here?  Some on social media see them as being used by wannabe cops trying represent themselves as something they are not!  I have one which lacks the POLITE logo, but still has the florescence and 3M stripes:

Yeah, I get that from scooter forums.
Sure, I really care what some Vespa guy in New Jersey thinks.... :)

I very much like the response that I get from following cars and trucks!
They back right off, trying to sort it out.

OK, in California - they say - I'd take a bullet.

Another advantage to living in Ohio.
I forget what the other one was...…

Too much black on yours. Besides all those pockets would get snarled up the next time I'm high-sided into the shrubbery.

I can recommend the Dainese Tempest D-Dry, it actually does a good job of keeping the rain and cold out unlike other jackets in the same price range that have a 'waterproof' claim.

Yeah, I’m with you on the pockets Stig. Never used any of them!
