G'day agent Bob, I have put the magnet on the outer rim with the idea that the larger the circumfrence the better. Thanks for all your thought on this. I think it comes down to it being a bicycle one and I am not using it for it's intended purpose, too high a speed and too small a wheel. I have not yet received a reply from the distributor.

I would reccomend a garmin made for bicycles.

They are smaller, can be removed and sliped into your pocket.

Im usually on a bicycle, so for me, this thing is hauling ass!
