Led lights

Thinking about going all led lights to drop voltage draw upon start up.The other thing I was thinking was to add a 30 amp Bosch type relay to by pass the light circuit upon start up so when the starter solenoid is engaged the relay will drop the lights till the starter is released .

Yes! You are genius! I put a small switch in series with the lowbeam relay coil so I could kill that 5 to 6 amp draw of the headlights. Your idea makes more sense!

I gotcher DT300i with and without 4-way flashers, I gotcher DT300i with and without ABS and I gotcher DT300i with the light switch but not the US model with no light switch. Whad'll ya have?

Actually, I have a couple of wiring diagrams for the DT300i spread over several devices. Being a device dinasaur it will take a while to find ONE and then to figger out how to post here. I think I understand what you are trying to do.

The simplest way seems replace the single throw start relay with a double throw and wire from the NC side to power the low beam relay. Lemme look for that wiring diagram....

This is the one with 4-way flashers, no ABS and light switch. All other aspects seem correct including most of the wire colors. Be on alert for differences! Always!

I have us model with no abs and has headlight switch 2012 looking at what you posted I could add the relay at hi low beam relay on the yellow red wire that would take care of headlights and taking out 70 watts of lights then change the rest of lights to led I have to study the wiring more to see if there’s a easy way for the rest of running lights

I could also add the relay on the ground side but would have to find the wire that feeds all the rear lights and all the front lights this would be the ideal way to do it there was a harness on eBay might have to get it then find the correct wires I need don’t want to cobble the wiring on scooter unless I know where these two connections are.

Yes, the rear lights are the problem! The biggest drain is the headlamps so cutting that drain during start is the priority. Changing the remaining lights to LED should also be an improvement.
I really don't care that our "lawmakers" rewired our equipment "for our own good." But that's the way it is.

By looking a wiring I decided to do the negative side the rear lights looks to be a 4 wire harness and the front looks to be about the same I have the relay I’m going to try and find the sealed plug for it.Run the negative to terminal 85 and jump it to 30 on relay 86 will go to the starter cable off the solenoid and 87a will go to negative to rear lights and front lights.The relay when not activated will be normally closed 30 to 87a giving the lights a ground.When you start the bike will open the circuit 30 to 87 which will be normally open breaking the ground to lights.With the lights on at start up two front head lights is 70 watts the rear tail lights license plate lights and running lights is another 30 or more watts so that’s about a 100 watts the relay is about 5 watts to activate.

I say---if LED lights are so important to you---buy a new bike with LED lights---I think my 2019 XTown 300i has them....and so far works fine---I think making mods, I  in this case can be a problem in the future----think middle of nowhere dark/rain/cold. I hate walking.   Kymco kept stock, ridden everyday=reliable.

The reason for led is to drop current draw my bike has low miles don’t need a new one
