Valve clearance ?
« on: June 19, 2020, 08:08:33 PM »
New to me 2018 Like 200i. Bought with 213 miles last week. Now has 650 and about the only thing left to do is check the valve clearance . under seat sticker says .06mm plus or minus .02mm  sound right? I now to check when cold but that seems a little tight. Or am I overthinking this?

I don't think that is right. I think I recall going through the same dither with wifes 2013 Like 200i. I think it should be .1 mm/.004" just like every other Kymco. But wait to see what Stig says....

I was advised years ago that .06mm helps to drag the LIKE through emissions.
Yeah, sticker says .06mm , and I agree .04>.08 is good.
Setting at .04mm leaves no room for safety to my way of thinking.

The old youtube I found advises .oo4 inches (.102mm)
I have been using that setting for 15,500 miles with no issues.
If my valves are clicking too much, my harmonica drowns 'em out.

I also do not do high speed anything on my LIKE200i.

If I was blasting along at full song on a Florida highway on a LIKE200i (waiting to die - it won't take long) I'd stick to the less violent .06mm probably.

That's what I was thinking. After 55yrs of playing with things, It seemed tight, But these are my first Kymco's so I just wanted to make sure you folks didn't have some magic handshake I wasn't aware of. Again, Thanks to all for the advise on all 4 of my posts. By the way, I'm really impressed how active the Kymco site is. Ernie

Evidentially, the the 2018 Like I just bought with 213 miles was brought in at 200 miles as the previous owner said because when I got down into it , the cover had a date and a figure written with magic marker as to when they were checked. .004 for both valves. I checked them anyway and found it to be true. Ernie
