'51 BMW mit Beiwagen makes rare appearance
« on: July 09, 2020, 04:11:48 PM »
Coffee buddy came putting into the coffee shop on his motorcycle this morning.
His other bike is a nice old red Reflex.

Coming into town I find it hard to pass this photogenic little B&B.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

The retired guy I ride with on Romeo rides has a collection of old BMW'S along with a collection of Cushman scooter's.  Everything he owns is air cooled.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

I had 1954 R51/3---last of the plunger frame, first with full hubs----bought 1958, $400 under 10,000 miles, my sidecar (which I think one in picture is)Steib S-350----I  bought mine 1958 for $50 attached to 500cc NSU,threw the NSU Konsul away------My R51/3 traded at 230,000 km----pretty much trouble free, comfortable with Heinrich Faring (uppers and lowers)   Used sidecar in winter-----solo gearing of bike sometimes required 3rd gear instead of 4th

Mine was a '59 R 69 S with the Earles fork . Had to sell it to pay for a new engine when our '67 VW bus camper sucked a valve at 50 mph. :'(
