Super 8 Headlight bulbs
« on: September 04, 2020, 10:39:16 AM »
How on earth do you remove the headlights on a Super 8? I've been looking and it seems all the panels need to come off? Please tell me this isn't the case!  :o

I have the Haynes Book of Lies but it's just not clear.

There's a weird issue with my scoot. The main headlight will come on for about a second and then goes out so I'm trying to figure out what the issue is. I have replaced the light resistor for a new one. I'm now trying to eliminate the simple stuff from my enquiries. Fuses appear to be ok (except I appear to have a domestic looking 13A one fitted which is weird, anyone know what rating the fuses should be?)

and then I thought I'd check the bulbs but it appears I need to dismantle the front of the bike  :o

After the bulbs I was planning on checking the switchgear.

Any other ideas will be very welcomed...

Guzzista, Not sure about the specifics of your scoot but my S200 has a lighting control module that is responsible for dimming the headlight at idle and increases the brightness to full when the revs go up. Lots of stories of these going bad. Something you may want to look into as you're trying to diagnose your problem (after eliminating all the simpler possible causes).

Regarding the need to remove lots of plastic parts to do any work...yeah...Kymco is notorious for this. My scoot requires full removal of seat, tub and all rear plastics to do just about any work on it (plug, valves, rear bulbs, rear wheel)

 :o :o :o :o
That's what I feared. I saw a youtube video of some fellow doing some work on his headlights and I was staggered to see all the bodywork having to come off!

I did replace the light control module. So this dims them at idle then do they brighten as you increase the revs, mine doesn't ehty just stay off. :( ::)
