200i Acting very Strange
« on: September 23, 2020, 09:35:16 PM »
I have a used 10500 km bike. Runs great bought used. Previous owner, 78 yo man. A decent guy told me there are some electrical issues. He claims when he winterized it, squirrels or chipmunks chomped some wires...good story!
Anyway, riding today, the engine light is almost always on, it comes and goes. But, the real kicker here is when I apply brakes the horn goes off!!! Strange indeed. It doesn’t always happen. It is sporadic. It started happening today a lot.
For the past week it was silent.
Anybody point me in the direction to help.
Local mechanics want 90.00 hour to inspect for problems. I can run down issues, but where to start?

Thanks fellow Kymco Travelers,

Peter

you may need a new wire harness, not to big of a job just need lots of pictures,
or take each wire and test it for shorts, each scooter has a cost by the size  of it,.  my downtown 300 ,  was 249.00 and it took me half a day to install it,

Would be my guess as well squirrels like to chew the insulation off of wires. Probably have some bare wires somewhere.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.
