Going up belt size
« on: September 29, 2020, 04:01:19 AM »
I was in the CVT of my 2013 Like 50. I noticed the belt could be a little longer (belt reaches the bottom of the variator but not the top of clutch pully, vice versa confirmed after sharpie test). I cant find OEM belt size anywhere. Any idea how to figure that out? And how to know what longer size I should go to without buying a bunch of belts?

I would go to Kymco dealer buy proper OEM for stock pulleys---that should fit unless you have screwed something else up.

Hi John,

I have no kymco dealer near me to check out belts. I know my OEM belt is fine if I want OEM performance, but I am trying to get a little more travel out of it. I still have the stock clutch, but a Malossi variator now. I need a little length so that when the var is closed the belt can ride higher on the clutch and vice versa

remove the belt off of scoot.,  lay it flat on a table ,.  and measure around belt with a metric tailors tape., or use a string around belt and cut to fit ,.n and measure string  with any metric tape ,.   that is first measure ,. second is width of tape,.  third is angle of belt
my scooter belt is 104 mm./ 25 mm.  with30 DEgree angle., on my downtown 300i,

de dee,

Thanks that helps. I have about 1/8'' - 1/4'' on the variator circumference that I can take advantage of. Any idea how many mm of added length I should try?

Maybe i should figure out the difference in arc length of current and wanted position of the belt and add it to the length i measure ha

I am guessing,.  20 to 30 M.M. to raise it 1/4 inch on the pulley,  may be best to do the math,.   or go to a dealer who has a belt measuring stick,. that way you can see the diferance what  1/2 inch in lenth will do
