my Suzuki V-strom, I'm slowly prepping it, I will be outfitted with auxiliary charging, between the stock 35 amps, my aux alternator puts out 75 amps, I will be able to jump start myself, my aux battery has 850cca, I will be running darkside for the trip, a studded Nokian Hakkapellitta,  I won't have been the first person to make this trip

Great choice of bike. I'd love to follow you on your adventure. It will be epic. Keep us posted, please!

as the building season winds down, I plan on getting back to my V-strom project,  my local Suzuki dealer is on board as a sponsor, I'm working on the design of my auxiliary wire harness, auxiliary lighting, the time of year I plan on going, it will be 24 hr darkness, or nearly so. I've ridden in blizzard conditions,  and temps down to -25°f  but not at same time, and I haven't really been in whiteout, more than a 2-3 second blast thru a drifting area.

The first time I really experienced storm conditions in the evening, it was like serenity, that I have experienced also in a car, conditions bad enough that nearly everybody stays home,  except plow trucks, leos and a few others,  the snowflakes drifting into your headlights in mesmerizing, and you know what, its easier than you think, I don't posses any special godlike motorcycle skills, the right tires, keep your feet on the pegs (do not use em as outriggers) don't panic

OK, rec'd 2nd pair of Highway21 7V heated gauntlets...and batteries! . Went up a size to 3XL.
Charged the batteries and wore them in doors. ...I feel warmth.
Will get tested later this week. Sunrise temps will be @30°F.
Will give final report then.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

A few years ago I bought a pair of Ansai Softshell battery powered gloves to use on my small dual sport in the winter.  I have been very pleased with their performance.  Most of the time, on scooter or dual sport,  25% power is plenty and the battery lasts as long as I want to be out.  And they are waterproof.

I looked at those -but could not find XXXL size to fit my hands.
