Done monkeying with windshields/Laminar Lip on my XTown. Locked down/rain coming.
My current XTown=I really like it.Newprice was right, so far reliable, easier to work on than the Japanese stuff, performance ok, heavy and it is really stretched 250. I am on 11th new maxiscooter since 1990, over 400,000 miles with them- 4 new Helix, over 175,000 miles with them ( at 50,000 miles I tend to get rid of scooters as I just do not want the hassle as they age).
Helix problems as you ride them #1 carb intake stubs break/crack (cheap, easy to replace). I had a couple of air boxes crack. Bad thing about Helix=L rated (62mph) tires on bike that would go well over 70mph downhill/tail wind. Only had one tire (Bridgestone fly apart) after long wide open run on Japanese toll road---happened on exit, I did not go down.
One more thing--the Japanese market Helix (Fusion) ran smoother/faster than my US models although parts book appeared the same
Real Plus with Helix---drum/foot operated rear brake (really nice for control in Tokyo or Chicago traffic)
Rear storage trunk----luggage racks for top box were hard to obtain at the time I was riding them. Drive belt 5,000 miles more recommended life OEM than XTown….and could be changed without taking front pulley off. Helix would start and run well in 20 below F temps. I liked Helix trailing link front suspension, it did not like winter salt---WD40 on joints kept it freed up. Really BAD with HELIX--at 30,000 miles guts of muffler shook loose----Honda replaced the $part on warranty each time.
So both the EXTown and Helix have the same maxiscooter buffeting problem....your nose is simply too far from tip of screen. Guess some designers do not ride!
Both have no oil filter---fine with me. Both work on WalMart 10-40 oil, frequent changes. Price for both bikes was about same.
