My LIKE200i manual said a valve check was to be carried out at 200 miles, along with oil screen clean and engine and gear oil change.
I changed both oils at 70 miles (some questioned what oil a Chinese factory might be using)
Dealer wanted $372 for a "first service"....so I set about learning how to DIY a valve check on my LIKE and accomplished it at mile 440, 4 weeks after purchasing the scooter. One was a little snug - but within specs. I re-set it.
My Piaggio Liberty150i specified a valve check, engine oil & oil-filter change at 600 miles.
Those were carried out at mile 602. All 3 valves in specs.
My Honda Forza used shims, and specified a valve check at mile 16,000! Sold it before then.
My Burgman 400 ----shoot, most folks sell it before ever doing a valve check, or never do it. Watch some videos to see why!
Anyway, all my scoots were broken in per the manual, and all received oil changes well before specified, and the LIKE and LIBERTY both received valve checks early in their careers!
Since I cannot just ignore service intervals - I now own only scooters on which it is easy to at least perform valve checks! (I check before buying!)
