Headlight only works on 'pass', not on low or hi
« on: August 10, 2010, 11:44:01 PM »
My 2004 People 50 headlight switch has 3 positions, low, high, and pass.   The switch can be put in either the low or the high position, but you have to hold the switch in the 'pass' mode.

The headlight only works in the 'pass' mode.   As soon as you let go of the switch, the headlight goes out.

All other lights and blinkers work normally.

Any ideas how to fix?

Welcome to the forum and yep what he said . The other switch should do it for ya on the right. They changed that set up in 2005 i think So you can never turn your lights off.
Kymco peoples too many ;) I'm not an expert just a full time hobbiest.

That was it!  I never noticed that switch on the right hand side.  My lights now work as they are supposed to.  I suppose if I had a owners manual I could have read about that.

Thanks!

On my People 250S you can activate "Pass" beam only when night lights (small lights + main beam) are on.
How stupid is that?!?

Thanks, I'll go look for that manual.   It's actually a friends scooter.  I have an older Elite 250.  I like the Kymco though.

I just went and checked. Unfortunately, my fix isn't going to be that easy. Even with the right hand switch "on," the headlight doesn't work. Any ideas now? Oh, and how do you replace the clip that holds the bulb to the headlight housing? I replaced the bulb but don't remember how the clip goes back on. HELP HELP HELP...I'm nearly out of riding weather, since I'm in the Northeast US! Thank you!
