500 fuel pump
« on: November 09, 2020, 09:16:54 PM »
Early indications are that the fuel pump on my 2010 500 is going bye-bye. Or at least I think that's what's happening. Anybody know how much trouble it is to change out?

www.cyclepedia.com might have a service manual for your scooter.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Actually I do. In the process of changing the pump in my 09 FI 250 which is the same machine design wise.  You can actually get to the fuel pump through the access door in the center floor. The trouble for me was getting the fuel line off required me to take the plastic center hump off which required removing the side floors.   Don't forget to order a new o-ring for the fuel pump assembly

Thank you. That will save me the uncertainty of tearing off a bunch of stuff I didn't need to.

I could off got the fuel line off but getting it back on would of been extremely difficult because it comes in from the side.

I'm not at all anal about "all original", so I will open the whole thing up for easy access. The reason for this is I now am in the 16,000 mile area and it should get a valve adjustment check anyway. That absolutely stupid cross brace that's in the way and makes getting the valve cover off is going to become a removable piece.

In fact my Kymco replacement  fuel pump just came in yesterday. Just drove down to the dealer to pick it up.  I'm just the opposite on keeping things original and looking good.
