Like 150i dead battery
« on: November 28, 2020, 07:11:25 PM »
This hasn't happened to me, but I'm concerned for the future.
How do you open the seat of a Like 150i if the battery is dead?

Surely the owner's manual has these instructions?
Most likely a lever is available once front glove box is unlocked with the key?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

The front glove box on the Like 150i doesn't require a key.
The seat latch is electrical, not mechanical, and is unlocked via the ignition key
The seat has to be unlatched before you can reach the battery.
I found nothing in the manual, but I will look again. Searching the manual is a pain.
I'll also check with my dealer, hopefully they know.

Oooh, that cannot be right?!
Surely Kymco left you a way in if battery goes dead!
(sorry for assuming your scoot is like my Piaggio Liberty,  with a keyed glove box hiding a manual lever to pop the seat if the electrical dash burron quits due to a dead battery )
Gotta think Kymco has a simple workaround for this situation.
Or, or - that is not actually an electric release with a key - but is really a cable being pulled by the twisting of the key in the ignition?? If so, won't be a problem if dead battery.

I'm pretty sure the seat latch is mechanical to open. If you are concerned about the battery going flat, I could suggest wiring a battery charger connector directly to the battery terminals, so you could either charge it or check voltage.

Don't know about the Like 150i  but on all my Kymco's it has a cable from the ignition to the seat latch to open not electrical.  I can't see Kymco spending the money to put in a electric solenoid to open the seat. You could look at a parts diagram to make sure if it's a cable or solenoid. Another option is to call a dealer's parts dept to make sure.

Really like the thinking on my Like200i. ...the key is inserted in the seat lock which is at the side of the seat...and so, is very close to the latching mechanism.
Very short cable vs very long cables!

My newly acquired Super 8 150 has the key inserted by the side of the seat as well but the battery is in the floor of the scooter.
