Adding an LED 12" light
« on: November 18, 2020, 11:42:02 PM »
Been doing some night riding this past summer so going to add a 12" Led light bar.  Have a kit ordered from Amazon with all the wiring, will be here by weekend.  Just wondering if anyone else has done this and what they ran into dureing the process ?
I would think the battery and charge system should keep up with this light, should also help with snow plowing when that time arrives.  Will report on my project when completed, just thought I would ask in case anyone ran into issues on their install.

I put a 20-inch Nilight light bar on mine back in the spring. No issues, though the switch I installed for the light has an LED illumination that runs all the time, since the light is hard wired to the battery and not running through the ignition key shutoff. I am sure it is a very, very low/slow draw, but I just keep the machine on a trickle charger when parked for extended periods in the garage.

As far as the light itself, works great and really lights up everything in front of you like high noon in July!

My switch had an option to have it light up all the time or just when flipped on,  of course I choose the only when on feature, to eliminate the constant draw. A simple jumper wire across two lower terminals on a 5 pole switch. Jumped terminals kept light on but disconnect one side and only comes on when lights are on.  Mine is also hard wired to battery, not key switched.  Might re look at your switch.....
