Finally getting warm enough here to think about riding very soon. The weather change prompted me to hurry up and get a few projects completed. First on the list was turning my dummy International market turn signals into functioning running lights...got that completed. Second (while plastics were already off) was to do a valve check...both valves in spec?..check!

Last project was to do a full carb clean. Pulling the carb out and opening it up on the workbench and giving it its first thorough clean in 11(?) years. Carb float bowl gasket is squashed pretty flat so I ordered a new one from my Kymco dealer today. Great guys and always very helpful at that shop. I won't pull carb until I get the new gasket in.

I'll do a full write up with pics, soon, on my turn signal project. I knew I needed international market led signals so I found some used ones on Ebay UK!  I'll post a teaser pic of the scoot with new lights on...

Shoot some pix while you're in there with the valves, etc.
Some of us like to see stuff like that.
I have some pix from a guy pulling the rear wheel off of a scooter like mine (Liberty) --- but the lighting is sooo bad, and I think he used a flip-phone from the 80's --- after putting his greasy thumb over the lens, that it's just make-believe as a guide.

Your pix could help some folks.....

as luck would have it I took a few pics with the valve cover off! I was budgeting about 2 hours for the job that ended up taking about 15 minutes. 2 hoses are removed, 4 bolts and 2 nuts (all 10 mm) and the valve cover is off.

Both valves were still exactly the same at my current 3100 miles as they were when I last checked around 2000 miles. .004 inch or .10 mm.  Afterwards I was questioning whether the correct number should be .12 mm? Oh, well, current setting seems to run just fine.

I also decided to use one of my 2 new, still in the package valve cover gaskets. The old one seemed fine but it's 11 years old and I have new ones, so why not go ahead and use one. I lightly oiled the gasket and reassembled everything. Simple job.
