I bought my 2004 people 50 a few weeks ago from a local fella. He said he was the second owner and had it for about 4 years and never did anything to it except replace the battery last year. I test rode it and it runs great, only had 1,500 kilometers on it since new so I bought it. We agreed on
$450 and I loaded it up and took it home. First thing I did when I got home was pull the spark plug and opened up the air filter housing. To my surprise it was missing the factory air filter element and had this in it's place.
Needless to say I had my local kymco dealer order me up a new genuine filter element for it. Runs like the dickens now. I've since derestricted it and have recorded with my GPS 47.9 miles an hour. Personally I think the factory foam air filter is more than enough for these little scoots. I was impressed it's actually comprised of two different density foam materials sandwiched together to form the element. For some reason, somewhere down the line before I owned it somebody decided to toss away the re-usable foam element and substitute it with a tube sock.
