What are you doing this spring?
« on: March 21, 2021, 04:50:24 AM »
I've got so many irons in the fire right now that warm weather has arrived.  Unfortunately riding has not been one of them.  I thought life was supposed to slow down when you retired.  Other then a few ROMEO rides this spring will be finishing projects.

So what do you have planned?

England is still in lockdown so no non-essential travel at the moment. Only so many supermarket runs I can do on the scooter! Once lifted my first day out will be a tour of Wales. On my doorstep great roads and terrific scenery.
Regards & ride safe,
Neil

It's just starting to warm up a little here in NE Ohio.  But it seems days in the 60's are followed by more days in the 40's.  I have to admit that after 50 plus years of riding two wheels in all kinds of weather, I've become very selective about when I'll ride.  And if it's below 60, I'm not really interested in heading out on the scoot (or up until the recent past, the m'cycle).  BUT that said, I'm bringing the scoot home next week from its winter storage garage, and a group I ride with is starting to plan our Spring-Summer-Fall Tuesday dinner rides, which will kick in mid-April.  How we'll handle this as the restrictions remain in place... well, our ride captain will have to figure that out.  And I'll be doing some Saturday/Sunday morning rides with friends.  And of course, there are always errands to run on the scoot.

I haven't done any overnight or multi-day rides on a scoot, but maybe that's something to consider for the summer.

As a fulltime houseman (cook, cleaner, gardener, plumber, electrician, carpenter...) and of course
LIKE-workshop-manager & mechanic, for me here in Italy caused by lockdown is just grocery and neccessity move possible.
We do have a boat in a Marina close to us ( by scoot 5 min ride), this has to be woken up slowely for spring season. Motorcheck, cleaning, solarpanels cleaned, small repairs and improvements, which were mulled over since month, etc.
And of course, checking advertisements for a second, used scooter, to tinker with.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus

Ruffus you sound a lot like me.  I need to get the boat out of storage when I go up North and get it ready for summer. I already have a scooter project lined up a 07 People 250 S but no time to work on it.  We don't have lock down so can basically go where you want. I beleive we have developed herd immunity.  We had two waves of covid move through the first was mild the second took out a lot of elderly and those with compromised immune system.  Other then face masks  and social distancing not much is different.

Spring is just starting around here so soon will be plenty of yardwork, mulching, trimming overgrown bushes, weeding. Cars will need to hand washed and polished / waxed (with the new hybrid ceramic waxes - GREAT stuff)...Christmas lights still need to come down (don't judge me!)..

need to get some bids on installing a wood privacy fence and also some exterior security lighting on house...also need to find roofer to re-roof house after last summer hail storm (insurance will pay, just need to find available contractor)....plus have to find time for scooter and motorcycle rides...today would be great but we have winds gusting to 40 mph and that makes riding a bit unpleasant so will have to hold off.
2010 People S200 - sold after 8 wonderful years!

1996 Honda Helix

In St. Louis it is the start of the rainy season but I still manage to ride. I have a few projects that I hope to accomplish over the spring.

1) Upgrade rear control arms on car
2) Finish Spring classes ( only two more semesters before I get my BA in criminal justice.
3 ) Take a three to four days off work and go on a fishing trip. I love to fish but can never find the time to sit down and relax.
