tire sizes

Has anyone changed their tire sizes? I am thinking of putting a 130/90/16 on the back. Any ideas or concerns? I found an unrepairable leak in my rear tire this weekend.

I stayed with the OEM size on my bike but I went with a Shinko tire. I have real happy with the grip. The racer boys use this tire for track days so if it's good enough for track days, it good enough for every day for me. Very well priced too. I replaced the front with it as I did not want a front tire with a center groove to aggravate any head shake. That was one of the major reasons I chose this tire too.

I was able to do it on the people 50,it is tight, But the 150 and s200 seem to have a bit more room so it should not be a problem. I would do both if you go this rout,it will affect your speedo reading also probably closer to actual speed

I would go to the next size up,may be able to go bigger but i havn't tried it
The 50 is very tight i get a little rub on the spring when compressed in the rear the front is perfect. The larger bikes have a bit more room. I went to a 100/80/16 on the 50 (front) Was an 80/80/16 the 150 is the same. On a 200+ you could probably go 120/?/16 maybe a 130 ?

just ordered new shinko tires. Anyone used them? I got 120/80/16 front and 130/90/16 rear. I think they should fit. look to be better than the kenda that came on the bike. now I just need to find a new belt.

Ya i thought the kenda's were o.k. but the rubber compounds are very soft on mine. Never tried the shinko's, We really like the avons in the bargain prices an the smaller tires but not so cheap in the larger sizes.

I have Shinkos front and rear on my bike. I like them. No issues at all. The racer boys like them for track days and the Cycle Gear near me has a rack full of them.
I bought my front for $42, shipped to me, including tax. 110/70-16

I got both for 112 bucks shipped. cant beat that price. now I just need to get a new belt and see if that fixes the top speed issues.

30 years ago 100 hp bikes had rear tire width similar to your front tire now.
Your grip will not improve with 1 size bigger front tire, neither you need more grip that can be derived by manipulating tire size. We are all driving scoots well below race-track border level where grip would be an issue.
If you lose the grip in rain or on grease spots, no tire width would be able to help.

Finally got my tires in and I'm have them installed today. I took it to my local scooter shop, and the price was a little higher than I thought it would be. what kind of price should I pay to have front and rear tires changed? I think from here on out I will change them myself. Just curious about prices.

I don't know what the going price is, my local bike shop won't fit scooter tyres.

well I ended up paying 136 bucks for front and rear mounted and balanced. they look great and the 130/90 fits the back with just a little work on the inner fender in the rear.
