Problems new agility 50 (2020)
« on: January 15, 2021, 05:38:06 PM »
Hey guys, i bought a new agility 50 (2020) at a dealer about a month ago.
When i start the scooter and try to drive away it loses power after about 1 meter. For the next 30-60 seconds it will keep giving a little power and then stop. It goes up to like 10km/h max. and drops to like 3 km/h and sometimes complete standstill. At the moment it is quite cold here around 0-6 degrees. The dealer said i must i must let it get warm first. I know this is better but shouldnt a new scooter be able to drive away even if its cold. I have never experimeced this with other scooters before

I'd check with at least one more dealer tech to find out if your scooter's cold starting problem is typical.
It would indeed be a bummer if it is.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

If it's fuel injected it will run fine even when cold.  If it's carbureted, it should warm up for a few minutes.

Mine did that as well.  Picked up a Agility 125 carburetor from the dealer and never had anymore issues.

Carburetor or fuel injection?  How long do you let it warm up before trying to ride it?  What was the temperature when you experienced the problem?

I have a carbed 2016 Super 8 50R based on the Agility platform.  It takes a bit to warm it up and stop the bogging if the temps are below 80F.  At 60F I have to drive a mile or two for the bogging to subside, but even then, the engine isn't a big fan of cooler weather.  At 80F the bogging issues are basically gone after 1/4 mile but a couple miles in when the engine is good and hot it is at prime performance.

Until the engine is good and hot you just need to be delicate feathering the throttle.  Once the engine is hot (and it takes a lot to warm this engine) then you can jump on WOT.
