Three motorcycles 1960 to 77. Three scooters 2007 (?) to now.  Scoots are fun! Two wheel are fun! No other "reason" required!

Having just gotten my first scooter, I will say I ride mainly for fun, though there is an undeniable utility/economy to a scooter. Seeing as my other vehicle is a full-sized SUV that gets roughly 12/14 mpg, it is FAR more economical to take my scooter to the gym, grocery store, etc., than it is to drive the four-wheeled conveyance. That it happens to also be a lot more enjoyable is just icing on the cake.

Here in Pennsylvania, and a lot of other places, two-wheeled vehicles are a luxury for all but the most hard core (many of you on this forum fall into this category) who happily ride scooters in all weather and temperatures. For me, it's about enjoying the warmer weather, feeling the wind, the joy of working the throttle in the corners, etc.

I will say this: I recently purchased my first two-wheeled vehicle, but I will be surprised if it is my last.

I go back and forth between bikes and scooters. Anymore most of my riding time comes from my back and forth to work. Which made using my vtx 1800 kinda a PITA. Don't get me wrong it was a great long haul bike (especially after swapping out the final drive with a 1300's final gear). But parking lots and short "hops" sucked.

All being said, but at the end of the day I do have to say I love the way a bike looks and it's simplicity in design. But I love the mindless and simpler riding that comes with a scooter.

So I'm swapping back to a scooter for the time being or maybe for good.

I always wanted a scooter growing up. I got a ride on a Honda Elite when I was 13 and wanted one so bad. As I turned 16 I realized it wouldn't be practical as my first and only vehicle due to winters and rain. So I eventually got a car (4 years later) and forgot about the scooter dream. Cut to 2019, I'm 44, married with a nine year old daughter. I decided, I'm getting a scooter! Ended up with a 2018 Piaggio MP3 500, got my motorcycle license and I was off. In the two years I've had it, I use it for everything. Fun rides, grocery runs, commute to work, running errands. We went from 2 cars to just one and the scoot.

And I chose a scooter over a motorcycle because I just want to have fun, twist and go. My next scoot will be an AK 550, hopefully within a month as I just put a deposit down on the next one my shop gets in.
