Pros and cons of your AK550
« on: June 27, 2021, 08:17:09 PM »
I purchased a 2021 AK550 at the end of March from Moxie Scooters in Colleyville, TX.
I changed the oil and filter myself after about 500 miles. I have put a GIVI screen on, which does a lot better
Job of keeping wind off the rider than the stock screen.  This scooter is a joy to ride with only minimal
complaints.  In my opinion the brakes could be a little stronger.  Will go with different brake pads when it’s ime
to change pads. Acceleration is smooth and effortless, at least up to 85 which has been my top speed on it so far.
The grips have not gotten buzzy at any speed.  I do know that putting 2 people on this scooter that are the size of my
wife and I is a mistake. Together we greatly exceeded the scooters weight limit.  Surprisingly the scooter handled
ok but acceleration was poor.  I like the seat, but I am having an aftermarket rear shock installed. The ride is a little
rougher than I care for.  I think the new shock will help. I have about 1500 miles at this time.

I love Moxie ! He was the only dealer in the USA who stocked the OEM KYMCO chrome crash bar set for my LIKE200iLX eight years ago!
I phoned from Ohio - he mailed - I paid!

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

SDD you and your wife will be fine on the AK550. My wife and I together weigh over 450 pounds.
I normally ride between 55-65 on our secondary roads and then 75-80 on an interstate hwy.
I ride very little on an interstate. I run super unleaded and have been averaging 60-64 mpg.
I only have 1500 miles on the scooter so far.

What is the certified//approved carry weight limit for the scooter?   Think you might be over loaded.
