Garmin 396 gps on X-town 300
« on: July 28, 2021, 04:43:46 PM »
Has anyone wired a Garmin 396 LMT-S to the battery on a x-town 300i (2021 model). I can’t figure out any way to do this. Ads say the gps will last 4 hrs on the battery, and that would be ok. But that’s a bunch of bull. Trying to sell the gps now as it’s pretty much useless on this bike, unless I can figure a way to do it without dismantling the whole scooter.

Thanks in advance.

Having NO experience with thex-town 300 whatever I say now is a guess BUT given the design consistency of Kymco, I will bet your answer is under the nose of the bike. Tje DT300i requires windshield removal then the nose can be removed. You can "piggyback" off one of the relays that get power when you turn on the ignition switch. Auto Zone, O'reilleys and Car Quest have brass thingys that allow plugging on another wire.

Thanks Crossbolt. I think you are probably right, but was trying to avoid all that. Maybe a good winter project.

Not possible on any of these models! You want a different horn? Disassemble front end. Change battery? Off with the seat and out with the tub. Wanna change the brake light bulb? Remove the rear body!
