Getting rdy to buy a 2012 kymco 200 gt i
bike has 8,000 miles on it no service records 2 previous owners lady that has it only rode it 800 miles
it started right up and rode fine today when i checked it out although the battery light came on she said its been well maintained... the battery holds a charge she says.. im sure its probably time for oil change, and fluid flush new variator and weights, probably belt new brake pads

talked her down to 1,500 has carbon fiber covers all around. no real blemishes little rust only on bottom of exhaust.

my question is is this a good purchase?

what should i be looking for?

only ever had gy6 motors and bikes.

@Garym0510, welcome within the hive👍

Are you talking about a KYMCO People s 200gti?
If it is the case then... give you prices in €€
- only 8000 mls means nothing and $1500,- is IMO a little bit steep for this year...but

-keys/sparekey original there
- key turns easily in the lock
-mechanical lock working
-opening seat and fuel tap works

-tires have an idicator tag (38-20 means produced at 38.week in 2020) and profile of course €150,-

- no records leave to suspect nothing was done ever € 50 to 300,- depends who does
(rollers, belt, clutch, etc..)

- brake pads, discs, brake fluid  €200,-
- under waterpump is an indicator hole, drops of coolant there means waterpump service €80,-

- oil stains, oil fog over motor and partic. close to starter motor says starter service €50 to 200,-
- battery issue €50,- for a new one
- oily smear between gear and rear wheel is an indicator for oil seal and wheel bearing €30-150,-

- greasy suspension/ shocks €150-300,-
- seat in good order without cuts €30-150 ,-
- all switches work and are not broken at all
- windshield okay
- headlight lens not milky or yellow €50 -150,-
- all indicator lenses, side rear okay
- top case /carrier in shape, no bending
- all body parts/ handles there
- no nuts and bolts missing
This was the first glimpse.

Now take the seat compartement off (10 mm spanner/ # screwdriver) and have a look at the motor.. gloves on!
-cleanlyness
-oily
-any loose cables or pipes around
try any cable and connection
-all relais/ electronic in its place
-skake the motor in its rubber bearings
-watch closely your air intake
Make maybe a list with all this and hook off.
Then decide upon showing costs what to do.
Good luck and if possible give us a feedback.

I think Ruffus has covered it.  The only thing I would add is you can go to NADA* and look at book value.   Keep in mind as well clean  low mileage scooter's tend to go for over book value.  While I would change the fluids the belt and CVT should be fine for 10k to 12k miles.

I would also check on line sites for leftover new scooters.  You might be able to find a 2020 on clearance for not much more money.

*NADA is around $1300.

Yes a 2012 kymco peoples 200gti

No spare key
No leaks
Nada price in my area is 1,685
All locks work as they should seat is clean of any rips or tears.
Have a local service shop that says the would do all maintenance for $285

@Garym0510,
buying a ride is a little bit like gambling.
Sometimes you win/loose, but seldom you will hit the jackpot.
With this $285,- you are up to $1800,- and as Kk wrote, there are for sure some unmolested 2020 leftovers out somewhere. Ten years is something too for a scoot especially if you don't maintain yourself, you could be easily way over $2.000 pretty soon.
BTW, I think there is a heatshield missing on this scoots muffler pipe.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus

Yeah there really isn't any 2020 anywhere near me like this nore do I have a truck to bring one back if there was.. I think I'm just gonna take the gamble honestly. It's what I want and I like it. I'd rather put parts on a quality scooter than keep buying parts for my 2017 or 20w1 gy6 motors lol.
