Music is a pretty important part of life to youngsters - and it certainly was to the teenagers fighting that war. "Hello Vietnam", the movie, I thought portrayed that aspect well in a couple of scenes.

Haven’t seen that one ... yet, but it’s going on the list. What did you think of Apocalypse Now?

Should have said, "Good Morning Vietnam", (not Hello Vietnam)... that goofy Robin Wms movie.

Michael Herr wrote the narration for Apocalypse. He has written what I often think is my favorite book about the war ("Dispatches") Disliked many parts of the movie. But at least Duval could salute properly.

"We Were Soldiers", great movie, showing the home front as well ...but Gibson's salute was embarrassing. The characters of Sgt Major Basil Plumley and Joe Galloway were the best for me.

Hamburger Hill, for me is the best of the movies. I knew guys like those - and heard conversations like those , and the mannerisms and dialogue were pot-on for military jargon unique to that place.

Non-fiction, 959.704 is the section in the library if you want to read more.
The 13th Valley and Matterhorn are good works of fiction.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.
