Exciting --- Lost keys!
« on: December 02, 2021, 03:00:47 PM »
Getting ready to head home just before sunrise this morning.
Keys aren't in my pocket, the ignition or the top case!

"Wait - this happened years ago - unzip the cuff of your over-pants. They'll fall out."

Nope.

Getting a little nervous. I need to get home to run daughter to school for a college final this morning!

Looked again in my pant cuff..... the hey was resting nicely in the top of my ICON boot!

(last time this happened to me , years ago - I did find them as described ---- and went home, had a 3rd spare made and hid it on/in my Burgman)

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Did the same with my Burgman. Can't do that with my AK 550. At least not as easy since I cannot simply "cut" another keyless remote fob.

Also one thing I did on my Burgman that I think is a very good idea on any scooter is to add an emergency seat latch release. The Burgman forum has several threads about this. Connect a steel cable to the latch release and hide the end somewhere else on the bike. Then I could open the seat without any key. I put my spares for my top case and the bike in the storage box under the seat. Just as secure as hiding a key somewhere on the scooter frame under the plastic. I haven't figured out how to add that to my AK yet. It's also a little more complicated since there are 2 latches that hold the seat.

Of course, if I couldn't find my fob in my pocket and it was in my boot the AK would still start and run as normal... just so I don't loose the fob along the way.
