I ran out of gas in my Vanagon once, ('81 air cooled efi ) but I had a half gallon or so mixed chainsaw gas. got me to a gas station


Cut any trees down on your way to the station?  ???

'80 a/c Vanagons drank gas like a Soviet tank. Maybe the worst VW mpg's of all time?
Lovely combination - bogg slow and thirsty!
I should have opted for the Champagne Edition baywindow at the other end of the showroom!
Then watched gas prices spike with that Vanagon.

cause they were as heavy as a Soviet tank,  recommended tires were 10ply, I has a set of 10ply Hakks for winter, gas heater too, I hauled my son's youth hockey team to Portland, ME one night when it was 25 below, the other parent with me says " gees, that just like a wood stove" it did crank out the heat, at a cost of getting 5 or 6 mpg

I had the opportunity to buy a diesel Syncro, but passed on it
