Scooter prices are nuts....that same $11k would take home a lot of nice ( and bigger) motorcycles.

Mine was $10,200 actual OTD. But that was due to being able to take advantage of the military (or any uniformed services) discount of $250 off for any Kymco product of 250cc or bigger. That discount was advertised on the KymcoUSA.com home page as ending at the end of 2021, but I notice that it is now back again ending at the end of 2022. With my trade in I actually paid a LOT less than that. The trade in value given to me by the dealer was more than anyone had offered me to buy my Burgman 650. My dealer also added the Battery Tender pigtail. And I do use it every time I park my AK in the garage.


That same money might have bought a bigger standard motorcycle but those would not have been anywhere close to what my AK 550 is to me. Value is much more than how many cc or how big a bike you can buy. Besides, this AK performs as well or better than my Burgman 650 or even my CTX1300 or ST1100. And it's lighter and easier to toss around while riding as well as pushing around in the garage.

I'm always interested in the reasons people buy scooter rather than motorcycle - especially when purchase prices go above $4k or $5K.

*here in SW Ohio p-up trucks are very veryvery very popular .....and, other than the 'work' trucks - the vast majority of these pretty trucks are running around empty

And you'd think in a farm state PU trucks would always be working. But most are just "pretty" trucks around here also.


I do like the storage. That ranks up near the top of the list but is not the primary feature for me. My Burgman had a lot more storage than my AK 550. I like the ease of operation more than anything. I'm done with the need to manually shift. And part of that ease of operation is the ease of climbing onto it in the first place... which is why I didn't go for DCT. A CVT actually does make up a lot for having a slightly smaller engine than what I've had in the past and I actually like how the CVT works. And having built in onboard storage is nice.

I got mine for just over $9800 OTD because they had it mislabeled with the 2021 models price and said they would honor it that day.

Seemed a little shady at first but I guess it happens.

I get it about being able to buy a bigger/faster bike for the same or less money, i just dont ride for big/fast anymore.

Practicality of function and safety are more what i was after in buying the AK...Its powerful enough to get out of a tight spot but not so much that its...i guess, too fun.

I have no use for bikes that are "too fun" anymore.

MOSTLY though...im done kicking gears and hanging on a clutch. CVT all day any day IMO

Ive been REALLY impressed with the lithium battery i got.

Even when it got a little cold here in TX recently and sat for a couple days it held at 13.1 vs the usual 13.3
Been rock solid.
