A (rare?) good news fix

2 up on a Vespa hits a pothole.
Scooter dies.
Comes to forum for help after mechanic says still blowing fuses, "need new wiring harness - $2500"
Members say, "this model has injector close under seat. 2 up hitting pothole drove seat down on injector - breaking it."
Yep. Broken injector $122.🙃!

quirks that don't go into repair manuals

on  old 1st gen SV650s, sometimes the would bog down at higher rpm, but run perfectly at lower rpm, what was happening, to meet EPA sound levels, there was a sheet of foam glued to the underside of the fuel tank to reduce intake honk, the foam would come unglued and sucked away from the tank blocking the air intake, but go right back into place if you had the tank off to look

This is the stupidity that has come to plague us all. 2500 for wiring for a damn scooter. I paid 1500 for my low mileage (12K) 500. I could not tell a customer that crap & sleep at night.

There was a guy in Denver a couple of years ago with a BRAND NEW Kymco People GTi300 that was told his non-starting bike needed a "new wiring harness" and he would have to pay for it! Dealer and tech felt the sting later....
