Brake pads after 5 yrs, 14,000 miles
« on: July 09, 2018, 09:02:13 PM »
FRONT

REAR

5 yrs ago I bought a full set of Kymco pads for spares.

Unless I move to the Himalayas - I'm never gonna get to use them!
(still waiting for the airfilter to get dirty - I have 2 spares!)
Stig

PS: LIKE200i brakes are the best I've ever used on a scooter (Piaggio, Forza and Burgman can't touch them!)

Braided hoses and two two-pot callipers - it's really overspecced and one of the main reasons I bought a Like.

Mine look very similar to yours at 21,000KM. It doesn't look like they'll ever wear out - or the discs will first!

Nice.
I've replaced the pads in my HD  I use for commuting 1.5 times (first half was for better pads), & the rotor once in about the same miles.
More hills and sadly since I work graves and live further in town than I work I hit rush hour on the way home.  Lots of work for my brakes.

The brakes on the Like 200i really are surprisingly good.  They have a light, positive feel, yet will bring you to a stop NOW if need be.  Glad to hear that they're apparently bulletproof, too.

"Good pilots don't need brakes!" Obviously, Stig is a skillful rider, using his brakes sparingly like we all should. I am married to a person who apparently never heard of engine braking....

Heh, nice.

Stig's doubtless without peer but  try that in urban riding.  I'll send flowers.

Probably was the thing that impressed my most about my Like is the braking capability. I tried a Sym Fiddle II before deciding on the Kymco and found the brakes grabby on hard application. The fact that the Like has dual disks gives it strong but easily modulated control.

At least for the stock Kymco pads on the LIKE ---- shows you don't need to buy any exotic aftermarket pads!

Where can I find Kymco front brake pads? I'm in the states and can't seem to find the original brand.

Check with your closest Kymco dealer?
There are always very good EBC brand pads.

The local dealer is about an hour away but the EBC brand is one I can order. Thanks Stig for helping me, the newbie, to keep my ride rolling down the road. Much appreciated.

At my speeds I probably could!
Say, do any speed runs on your Kymco?

Not as such Stig.  Plenty of opportunity to max 'er out here, but much above an indicated 75-ish she gets a bit stressed (or I do?), feeling that sort of speed is above her 65-70 comfort zone.  The scoot would take it up to an indicated 90 I'm sure, but it goes against the grain of my mechanical simpatico!  I'll save the triple digit speeds for the Triumph - on the track or closed roads of course!
