Buying used brake rotors
« on: August 04, 2022, 04:12:33 PM »
I want to buy used original brake rotors in new condition from a front crashed scooter. Its safe? Or the rotor could be damaged? How to check it? Its really good deal the milage is 5500.

You want to buy used brake rotors that are like new? Or do you want to buy a wrecked bike with 5500?

Used brake rotors where you still see the pretty grinding marks will have very little wear. Next they must be straight. To check that they must be either on a wheel or in a lathe.

Okay, I re-read your question : the brake rotor is on a bike with a crash on the front. As long as it is straight (which is unlikely) should be good.

maybe i would take only rear rotor. You think it could be damaged? The wheel is off the scooter

If they're cheap...real cheap...buy them.
If the disc is warped you'll know it soon enough.
Not cheap? Buy new parts.

BREMBO offers, at least here in Italia, brake discs in top quality for €56,- apiece. A set of new bolts is €10 -, if you cannot check them before you buy, get new ones.

Two points---brake rotors should last 50-100,000 miles based on my scooter experience, so why change.  #2 Since brakes are safety item, new parts probably better idea.
