Visited my grandmother many times in a nearby small Ohio town - one stop-light small! She lived in Indian mound Estates.
We used to walk down the street and sled down the "Indian mound" on snowy days. Some said Indian things were buried at the top, but we never messed with digging up there - just shot down on our sleds and then climbed back up. The Mound Library (extension of the county library) was built next to the traffic circle around it - and eventually the village fenced it off at the bottom.
There are Indian battlefields around this area.
And a gorge at nearby Clifton (near Yellow Springs) is where Daniel Boone supposedly jumped when fleeing after his capture by the Shawnee Indians. Well, this is the story told by a park ranger, years ago - to some patients I took there on a group outing.
I've stood over that gorge - if he did jump it - I understand why his captives didn't follow!
Pretty certain the story of him being held captive by the Shawnees is true - the gorge jump is......at least entertaining!
