OEM Carb vs chinese replacement carbs
« on: June 11, 2023, 02:46:15 PM »
Sorry disregard post , I did a try with the fit of a chinese carb and they are too tall to even work so
not going this route.
thanks for the replies

I have a 2014 Agility 125 in Calif.
My OEM carb has a small port on bottom of the carb that goes to a hose that goes to the valve cover in front?
(I am not a mechanic so sorry if I am naming parts wrong ) .    This valve cover part in front has a small chrome tube on it also
I believe its called part of the PAIR system.

I have ordered 3 diff chinese GY6 carbs from amazon and they all do not have this port/vent that would allow me to
attach a hose to go to this valve cover .
How or can I still use these chinese carbs?     I do not want to buy a OEM carb I got this 125 cheap and its not worth putting too much into it.      I have seen some youtube vids that cover or remove this chrome tube ( what the heck is it called , this tube? )  and then make a plate to cover the port where the tube goes into the (crankcase?)
Is that the way to go?
thanks

do you have a picture you can share? It might just be a California emissions thing..my S200 (163cc) has a vacuum line to the carb from the intake manifold. The only line running from the valve/cam cover goes to the airbox.

Right thats the thing , the line from the intake manifold to the carb,  my oem has that line but the chinese
carbs I get off amazon (3 so far)  do not have that  port coming off the carb .  So how would anyone use
these chinese carbs or keep looking until I find one with that port?

All 3 of the chinese carbs I got do not have this port.   So how would you use this without having a hose
going to the intake manifold?

There is a workshop manual here for the Agility 125.  https://kymco.at/kymco_store_view/dowloads/kymco.html  but not sure if it will help. I didn't find any pics of the carb showing that port. There is picture on page 38 section 1-19 that shows what they call the air injection cut off valve. Usually these are controlled by intake vacuum. Could the tub you are speaking of, from the carb,  attach to that valve?
Looking back at your first post you say the tube comes off the reed valve on the valve cover. ?

The vacuum line on mine goes to the accelerator pump on the side of the carb..I assumed our carbs were similar but they aren't.
Why do you feel you need a new carb?...and as a backup, have you installed the new carb and plugged the vacuum line to see if it works well enough?

No because the new carbs do not have that port which the OEM carb uses so it would be missing whatever that hose would be doing.

I did try a fitment and turns out none of these chinese carbs will even fit they are too tall for the intake and exhaust tubes so its moot at this point.  I was trying a new carb due to my issues that I posted in the 125 agility forum

The PAIR plumbing can simply be removed.  It has no effect on operation.  You may need to plug the tube leading to the valve cover, or just replace the valve cover with one that doesn't have the tube fitting.  The ROW (rest of the world) scooters don't use this device, so your scooter won't miss it when it's gone.

..nearly any carb can be fitted to this manifold.
Take a piece of PEP/PTF pipe of, let's say 30mm inner diameter, and heatmold an interconnector between carb and mentioned manifold.
 Important, has to be airtight.

At rear end it's not that drastic with airtightness.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus
