Kymco NOS 2021 Like 150I

Greeting and Salutations  :D

I just purchased a Kymco NOS (New Old Stock) like 150i (I have 28 miles on it).
I have also ordered a Givi Windshield A6109A (from Italy), a rear luggage rack SR8109 (from Spain)  and a used Givi E450 Top Box (via EBAY from New Hampshire).
This is quickly becoming an expensive venture.

I am looking for a Service Manual but I have not found anything for the newer models.

I do not see a section for the Like 150i ... what is the proper section to use.

Pretty snappy color scheme!
Just post in LIKE200I.....or pretty much wherever - just always use subject, "Like150i " to get attention for your scooter, and/or from other LIKE owners. 🙂

Well it is Houston. One needs something BRIGHT to avoid getting by hit by otherwise occupied drivers.

This is a really long "break in" period .... 1000 miles. My first Chinese GY6 150cc scooter (years ago) only had a 300 mile break in. It may take the rest of the summer to get it broke in at reduced speeds and distances. My first impression is that the suspension is stiff (too stiff) and the brakes feel a bit graby. I am hoping both of these will loosen up a bit with the break in.

Cyclepedia has the manual for the Like 150i.   https://www.cyclepedia.com/online-manuals/kymco-atv-scooter-online-repair-manuals/  There is a download site that has been available here.  It looks to be an old website from Europe written in German I think and the new Like 125i is listed but not the 150i.  And it doesn't date the model.    https://kymco.at/kymco_store_view/dowloads/kymco.html .

(my first impression was "flat black!?" on the front?!)

Unless you live on a farm or a ranch - where you can log 1000 miles riding with the cows - a whole lot of part-throttle isn't going to work in traffic!

I don't think anyone rides at part throttle for the 1st 1000 miles! (heck a lot of people sell a scooter before then!)
Use your motor head - no sustained speeds, slow or fast, for long periods for the first couple hundred.
No full throttle for a few 100. (I've had my 163cc LIKE200i for 10 yrs - can count the # times I've ran full throttle on 2 hands - but that's just me)
Vary the speeds - rolling on and off the throttle - which is a real pain in traffic! - but they say is important. ("who?!")

Change the oil after a couple 100....use good stuff. (my 200i takes less than a Qt!) It's air-cooled, no filter.
Keep up the oil changes and it should last a good long time.

Chirpy ride ?.....these aren't Vespas - welcome to 12" wheels. Stay off lousy surfaces and you'll smile more.
You have 2 wheel ABS - w/ twin discs. You should be good!
The F & R disc brakes on my old LIKE200i are absolutely superb! Smooth and powerful!

Riding in Houston traffic....what color helmet & jacket do you use? - which I think is more important than scooter colors.

Well some, but not much. My 'Handicapped' placard is bright blue. Perhaps I could stick that on the other side  :-\

The 30 year old open-face skid lid is a black leather. No jacket ... it is over 100°F outside (as the temp gage in the instrument panel confirmed).

I now have 100 miles on the clock. Driving 0 to 30 MPH in 100°F in Houston traffic is real work. I have accidentally gotten up to 35 maybe a couple of times. I think I am going to raise the limit to 45. That extra 10 MPH would make a whole lot of difference.

I am will probably use Synthetic SAE 20W-50. Is this where the oil filter screen is accessed?

I took the last notch out of the rear shocks and checked the tire pressures ... they were both 33 PSI from the dealer. I am 6 feet tall and weight 150 pounds soaking wet with the helmet. I lowered them to 26 and 30 PSI. I can no longer detect each and ever grain of sand. It can even handle to local 'washboard' at 20 MPH (I refuse to drive my truck down that road).

If I only use the left brake and divide the pressure between the front and rear then it is a bit less grabby. They should have swapped that up and put the 'dual' brake function on the right. According Mr. Honda, 'If you are only going to have one lever then it should be on the right side so you can carry your noodles home with your left hand' ... that is not the exact quote but it is close.

I just ordered the printed version from them. I am old and decrypted so any serious work will be done by the dealer but I like to know what is under the hood ... err ... I mean plastic.

lewtwo, yes, your pic is of the cover for the oil screen. If you were doing your own oil changes I'd strongly suggest draining the oil from the actual oil drain plug and not just from the oil filter screen, as it drains much more oil. Tire pressures sure haven't changed over the years..my 2010 S200 lists the exact same recommended tire pressures (for my 16" tires).

Finally, the suspension (or lack of?). Yes, most of these smaller scooters have absolutely terrible suspensions. Stiff ride with very little travel. It's just something you get used to...maybe.

I rarely mess with the filter screen.  I have never found much of anything in those screens in any of my bikes.  I have 20K on my Like and I think I checked it once around 15K.  Nothing in it.  I use 5w40 synthetic Valvoline.  I used Rotella T6 5W40 in my Super 8 which I put over 33K on before selling it.
