Spade: Opinions on Dunlop D604 and Mitas MC19 tires?
« on: June 21, 2023, 08:57:21 PM »
Hi everybody,
I'm looking for tires that can handle 80% road and 20% gravel riding. Thinking of getting Dunlop D604 130/70-12 for rear wheel and Mitas MC19 120/80 for the front. Couldn't find both sizes on the same brand, so... Do you guys think this combo will work well?

Thanks!

I have no experience with either tire but I have often used different brands on the front and rear of various bikes and never had any issues doing that.

Hi klaviator, thanks for your comment. I really appreciate that you took the time and shared your thoughts.
I just ordered them, taking advantage of an unusual price matching deal from a well-known specialized store (they usually price-match only against US-based stores, which makes sense. This time apparently they made an exception... inadvertently, I'm almost sure.)

Anyhow, I'll post the results of the experiment after I had ridden a few miles with them.

Thanks again, and ride safe!

I ended up installing them. No issues so far. Haven't noticed any significant difference in handling, vs. the stock ones. Only difference is the speedometer got a bit more generous than before. It used to be about 1-2 mph more than GPS, now it's 4-5 mph more. I thought it was going to be the opposite, or maybe the same.
Anyway, it's not very important.
Haven't tried them on gravel yet. Maybe this weekend.

Didn’t realise Dunlop made an adventure scooter tyre. Might be an option for my  DTX360 so thanks!

Edit: Well I've checked and N/A in my size for the rear (150/70 13) so must keep looking. :(

Maybe check on the Mitas?

Good luck, ride safe!
