The scoot died on me while going to work the other day. Ran fine, no hiccups or anything like that, and a few km before going to work it started bogging down and shut off. Couldn't start it, a colleague passing by picked me up.
Came back to the scoot after work, it started and got me home without a problem.
The next day same thing happened after about 10km. Parked it, let it sit for about 10 minutes. it started and got me home without a problem.
So after that I checked the intake for air leaks - none.
- changed the vacuum tubes
- did a valve check (it was OK)
- took the carburetor out, looks ok inside, cleaned it out using carb cleaner, jets clean, diaphragm is ok, main jet needle is in place.
- changed the fuel line from vacuum fuel valve to carb.
- disconnected fuel hose from vacuum fuel valve and put a piece of fuel line on the vaccum line, sucked on it, fuel flow into a plastic container was good.
Put everything back together, went for a ride, it shut down in 5km.
Let it sit, again, for 10 minutes, it stared up, and if I keep it under 65-70km its OK
Short speeds above that speed is OK, but not for long.
Acceleration is slugish compared to before this started.
I keep thinking its a fuel problem, but what to do?
Fuel filter looks clean and no visible leaks anywhere in the fuel delivery system.
Float needle problem? The float looks and operates OK, float needle goes up and down with float.
Vacuum fuel valve for some reason not keeping up when the scoot needs more fuel?
