2013 Kymco Like 200i shutting off after stopping

I recently replaced my friend's fuel pump in his scooter. It sat for over 2 years with old fuel in the tank. I removed the tank and cleaned out what I could from it and had to replace the pump also. After riding for a while and coming to a stop, it is shutting off. I work on diesel engines and gas engines but mainly on trucks and cars. First time working on a scooter. Can someone please help me, or let me know where I can get information to help resolve the issue. I'm new to this forum and haven't searched the site completely.

A good place to start with your very familiar sounding issues involving a LIKE200i which has starting/running issues after sitting unused for a length of time ...would be reading the posts found in the heading/section for LIKE200i in this forum.

How many miles on the scooter?
Wrecked, dropped, flooded, how stored, reason for replacing fuel pump?? pump filter would normally have handled any junk in the tank
"Riding for a while...shuts off"? How long, what speed? (gas cap not venting...? gas-in-oil soft-seize overheating?
Parts replaced so far?
Battery condition, spark plug and cap installed properly - both snug?
Unusual engine noise?

Lots of possibilities - many, many discussed in the LIKE200i section.

Please give us more info.
