old Honda parts are ridiculously complicated!
« on: June 07, 2024, 11:36:42 PM »
Posted the other day about my score of new OEM parts for my 40 year old Honda. Today I decided to install my first new foot peg rubber. I was laughing while disassembling the foot peg...Honda makes this so needlessly complicated. so many parts and so much weight vs a foot peg of today. (although you should see all the parts the turn signals are comprised of..even more ridiculous!)

1st pic of foot peg...2nd pic disassembled. 12 total parts, including mounting bolt, not shown. make up each foot peg.

Of course I had to degrease and polish up the parts with #0000 steel wool...and the bracket is soaking overnight in Evaporust to remove the rust from the mounting hole..can't have dirty or rusty parts, you know!

Want to add an OEM sidestand to your Piaggio Liberty150i?!

It was my first DIY on my new Liberty150i.....and I was no longer a happy pasta eater !

Crazy, that stuff like valve adjustment, wheel removal and CVT servicing is easy.....while this was.....etc.!!

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

This was copied and pasted from the AF1-Racing parts page. (major source for Piaggio parts in the USA) Warning customers who wish to purchase a side stand - how much work is involved. They followed the Piaggio service manual's instructions to get to the area below the floorboard.

I installed mine in a different manner. Still took me hours figuring out hidden screws, etc.

Ahh, thought as much.  As you say though, ridiculously over-complicated.
