Help with valve cover leak.
« on: June 03, 2024, 09:01:38 PM »
New to the forum. First question.
I have a 2017 UXV 700i that has a small leak at the rear of the valve cover. Oil is dripping down onto the exhaust pipe and smoking.
Need to remove the valve cover and seal it. The owner uses it daily and I need to know what to expect and have the correct parts ready to go before I dig into it so there is as little down time as possible..
My question is: is there a valve cover gasket or is it just sealed with sealer such as Honda bond. I could not find a gasket on a parts breakdown anywhere. They offer gaskets for the mxu 500, but nothing comes up when searching UXV 700? Also if anyone knows the correct torque for the cover bolts, I need that also.
Thanks in advance
Mike

Might check with www.cyclepedia.com
They wrote the service manuals for KymcoUSA.
If you subscribe - you get the service info and specs - and you can start a service ticket with their techs. They've responded quite quickly to my questions.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Suspect it is like all the rest of Kymcos down to 50 cc and every Honda known in the world: the valve cover gasket is a precision, molded gasket that seals perfectly with very little "squishing" pressure from the hold down bolts.

Suspect the cover was off previously and put back on with a twist in the gasket or slightly out of place. With pressure and heat is probably now permanently deformed. Get a replacement. These should last the life of the machine and beyond.
