why I don't ride behind a TALL screen....
« on: September 18, 2024, 06:14:50 PM »
I'm too fond of riding in the rain.

This is my Liberty's little OEM Piaggio flyscreen in the wet

I removed the tall stock screen on the Burgman for this Ermax sport screen. It also eliminated the crazy buffeting of my head!

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Tallest screen I ever had was the OEM X-Town one, but fortunately I could still see over the top, otherwise I’d have fitted a sports aftermarket one. We get a lot of rain in the UK! 🙃
Regards & ride safe,

I have a Givi tall screen for my AK550, ok for winter riding, has a good wind deflection for the handle bars too, but downright hot in the summer, I take the screen off entirely not even a shorty

I had a loaner bike when mine was in the shop, Vulcan 900 with one of those huge barn door almost perfectly vertical windscreens, rode it in the evening to a meeting, on way home it rained, nothing but glare, it kept all the engine heat right there, felt like a blast furnace. I ask myself why would anyone equip a bike like that

My new People S 150i ABS came from the factory with a very tall screen. I thought it was terrific. Then one time, I got caught in the rain. Not so good. The visibility was terrible. After doing some research and watching a lot of YOU Tube videos, I cut my screen down 5". Perfect height for my 5' 10" frame. I can see over it in the rain. The wind buffers just over the top of my helmet, and I can scooch down a little bit if necessary.

found some pix of my new Burgman (@2016) and its tall stock screen.
This tall screen just BEAT my head up when riding on the highway!! It was very distracting!

I changed it out for this French made ERMAX, sport screen. MUCH better to ride behind at ALL speeds!

That Burgman didn't always wake up in a good mood.....
