Wheres the Winker (turn signal) Relay located?
« on: February 12, 2011, 06:29:35 AM »
I'm trying to repair some damage that rats caused. I got a wiring diagram off a repair manual and it shows the "Winker Relay" connecting to a grey, black, and green wire. What does the relay look like, and where would it be mounted on the scooter. I saw the regulator/ rectifier on the handlebars, but I didn't see any other relays.  Thanks everyone.

On every photo of every scoot I have seen it is directly above the regulator in the front of the bike. Haven't ever had to locate it but if you follow the wires back from the turn signals you should be able to find it. In the repair manual I have, the colors from the switch are grey, light blue and orange but I haven't verified that yet. I am also not sure if the relay comes before or after the switch. I would think before, could be wrong. But definitely after the regulator/rectifier. I do know that on my bike at least if the battery is dead or close to it the turn signal can be turned on but will not blink. It only blinks if the battery is in good shape. You probably know that. The picture of the turn signal relay that is in my book (generic scooter book by Haynes) shows it to be a small cylindrical shape about 1.5 inches high. It would appear that it is close to the turn signals for obvious reasons. Test it for power going to and from. Hope this helps. You could always stick your foot out to the side to indicate which direction you are turning. Just kidding.   :D It is 39 degrees fahrenheit here so it is time to take a mid winter ride. Not going to get any better than this. :P

Found it. Thanks! It was mounted inside the plastic molding that goes around the handlebars. It's right by the turn signals like you said, but not mounted to the frame. I had the plastic molding face down in the garage so i overlooked it. Unfortunately I won't be able to test it for a few days. I've got to splice/ solder nearly every wire front and back. Rats did a major number on it. I'll keep you posted
