turns off when chokes off
« on: March 05, 2011, 12:15:36 PM »
hello :D, i have got the kymco super 8 and it starts, and runs fine, but when i stop, after riding for around 3-5mins, the bike doesnt hold its revs and it just turns of. the revs just slowly drop and it dies. it will start again fine, if i give it a bit of gas. could this be a problem with the idle jet? any thoughts and oppinions would be very greatfull.
many thanks :D!

Try 1 oz. of seafoam additive per gal of gas . After a tankfull runs through adjust idle as needed . A NGK iridium plug might also help . Good luck .

If it is 125 4-stroke, no sea foam or fancy plugs will help. The same behavior is noticed on Agility 50 and 125.

I have measured auto choke resistance and have a theory that the choke vendor did not supply the choke with resistance stated in the maintenance manual, causing the choke to cut off prematurely and shut down the engine.
Nobody else commented on this notion on the forum.

p.s. Juice, NHF, but almost everybody on this forum is trying to solve every problem with this magic "sea foam" or by using fancy-expensive plugs. None of them have anything to do with the underlying issue.

Axy , no offence but seafoam and NGK iridium plugs have improved the starting and performance of all of the six scooters I have owned . As an aside I used to have an anual battle with my lawn mower not starting which often ended up with me taking it to the shop for repair .  Sense I have started using seafoam in all of my small engines three years ago I haven't had a single starting problem with any of them . Thanks .
